Subunes

I constantly have these dreams that I’m living and working in NYC (which I do in real life) except that NYC is enormous, 16 avenues wide at least, eight hundred or so streets long, and the subways are always messed up. It’s always extremely complicated and time-consuming to get where you want to go. These subways take me out to the suburbs of the subconscious, aka the subunes. Enjoy this tune about life in the subunes, where your girlfriend is attractive and the Mets are always playing the Raiders.

Dream of the Vet

This track was the only one to get cut from the soundtrack to The Power of the Crystals, but not because we don’t love it, just because we ran out of time. I think you will agree, it ROCKS. Guitar on this track comes courtesy of both current guitarist Spencer Chakedis and former guitarist Orange Magic. Drums are courtesy former drummer Darren “Dashing Darrence Darby” Jones. I think you will agree, it is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Tag Along

Another German Cars vs. American Homes track (see: Waste of Time), Tag Along is the essential tune for everyone who’s ever been stuck at some goddamn party wondering what they were doing there. Produced by the Missing Teens’ very own Spencer Chakedis, this track appeared on Music for Young Adults, which you can still buy if you just email us.

Waste of Time

Ok, technically, this isn’t even a Missing Teens song: this is a German Cars vs. American Homes song. But the Missing Teens was co-founded by James Call and Spencer Chakedis, and joined by DJ Pu Yi, of GCVAH, and do a lot of GCVAH tunes, and this track is just too slammin’ not to put on the website. Plus we do this one live from time to time, so WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT FROM US ANYWAYS.

This was the first track on the classic One in a Million, which you will purchase here because you are a patriotic American who loves good music.

Here it is.

And for your amusement, here’s the original version, from way, way back in the day. Produced by Mr. Ryan Beebe of the Gomorran Social Aid & Pleasure Club. Totally different feel. Try it, you’ll like it!

Trendsetter!

Trendsetter is the catchiest song this side of the Mississippi. It’s for you bleeding-edge people who can’t wait for the next fucking iPad or whatever to come out. You trendsetters, you! In any event, I know you’re busy busy busy, but give this track a listen. This is the original, all-sequenced version, but the UNBEARLY HOTTTTT and BLAZIN’ live band version is coming soon! In the meantime, jive along to this!

Stack of Documents

Mr. Tore Ingersoll-Thorp of the Sleepwalkers Theatre wanted me to write a song about what it’s like to work for the government. Well, folks, here it is.

This is the original, heavy, sequenced version, which I really like, but just wait ’til you hear the real, live band, version, which will be on the upcoming soundtrack album for The Power of the Crystals, currently being mixed up our very own James “JP” Pertusi at The Kennel in Brooklyn. It is the smoothest goddamn thing since slightly melted butter. So many panties will drop to the unbelievable sax stylings of Dave Schnug that it will literally cause the displacement of much of Earth’s mass. BELIEVE IT.

In the meantime, enjoy this version:

Round of Applause

This is one of those tunes that I just couldn’t recreate using Logic’s many internal synths… I had to revert to the good old QSR and JV-880 for this one. Still use them to this day. Oh, it brings a tear to my bleary eye. Drums by Darren Jones, and all those basses by Dave Tirolo, except for the turnaround, played with masterful craftmanship by Neill Sanford Kent Livingston III. And horns by the Porn Horns. How right you are, Jeeves!

Like ALL good things in life, this song is available for sale on Amazon.com and the iTunes store. Just look up Music for Young Adults and GO TO TOWN.

Fernando and Louise

From Music for Young Adults (available FOR SALE at the iTunes store, society’s least favorite innovation!), this is my attempt at combining “Children’s Song” with “Haitian Divorce”. Heavily influenced by the samples of DJ Pu Yi. It took me about 2 years to finally record decent vocals to this tune. I could have slowed it down to 135 bpm from 150, but where would be the hardcoreness in that? Anyways… mucho gracias to Alex Beck for putting up with me as I recut the vocals time and time again, and to Roko Djokovic for providing the beautiful guitar tracks.

And just wait’ll you hear the Missing Teens do this one live. ‘LL BLOW YA MIND, GIRL.

My Old Lifestyle

Here’s the “classic” Missing Teens version of My Old Lifestyle. The new version is coming soon, on the soundtrack album for The Power of the Crystalsm, which is coming soon. I love both versions! But then again, I LOVE MYSELF.

This song is co-written with Adam Reiter. Note the use of just ONE instance of Sculpture to achieve so much. Guitar by Spencer Chakedis and the original German Cars vs. American Homes guitarist, Jared “Fluffycombs” Rock. Also with the drums of Darren Jones and bass of Dave Tirolo, and once again, the Porn Horns! Thanks to Sanford Kent Livingston and Mike Weber for the mix notes on this tune.
